Agency Principals

Rodney Hurt, AAI, Texas A&M University Class of ’77, began his insurance career not long after college graduation and a venture in home building which resulted in 26 local homes being completed. He has over 30 years of industry experience, received his Accredited Adviser in Insurance designation in 1985 and formed the Service Insurance Group in 1987 following producer roles with two different local agencies. His experience includes sales, management, agency ownership and acquisition, development of outside sales locations and holds General P&C and Life licenses. Additionally, he was co-founder and formerly part owner of a group of agencies that at one point reached 41 Texas locations and served from 2000 to 2011 as their Executive Vice President. Before being bought out of that enterprise, he provided marketing and coverage advice to the group’s agents on a regular basis. Currently, Rodney handles the day-to-day management needs of his agency and other insurance enterprises while continuing to produce both commercial and personal insurance volume. Rodney and his wife Lynda, both Bryan-College Station natives, have two adult children and two grandchildren.

Bradley Hurt, Texas A&M University Class of ’00, is a third generation both Aggie and insurance agent; he began working at SIG in 2002 following accounting positions with the Houston-based divisions of both a national reinsurance provider and a multinational service corporation. Brad produces commercial and personal volume, markets commercial renewals, holds licenses in General and Surplus P&C lines and currently serves as agency Vice President, having previously held every position from accounting assistant to CSR, agent to producer, and management. He assists daily in the administration of the multiple location agency along with other insurance-related enterprises and holds a CLCS designation. Brad, a native of Bryan-College Station, and his wife Misty welcomed their daughter and son in 2013 and 2015 respectively.

Agency Sales & Service Personnel

Gary Griffin, CIC, Producer, graduate of Rice University, is a producer specializing in personal insurance.  Following time in education and coaching, he began his career in insurance as a claims adjuster with Travelers Insurance Company. He has since accumulated over 40 years of experience as an agent becoming a Certified Insurance Counselor in Personal Lines in 1989 and moved to SIG in 2001 after several successful years with another local agency. Gary is originally from Pampa Texas and spent time in the Houston area before relocating to Bryan-College Station with his wife Johnnie. They have two adult sons and three grandchildren.

Monica Hughes, Personal Account Manager, joined SIG in 2002 and handles the various needs of existing personal lines customers while marketing new and renewal business. Before venturing into insurance, Monica previously held positions with banking institutions in nearby Brazos Valley communities. With over 12 years of experience, she is the primary agency contact for personal lines customer service and marketing issues. Monica and her husband Greg are natives of Franklin/Robertson County Texas and have three children.

Nick Lutz III, CRIS, Producer, graduate of Sam Houston State University, joined SIG in 2009 as a producer specializing in commercial insurance. He brought a great deal of sales and management experience in construction, real estate, and other related fields to this position. Prior to relocating to B/CS, he and his family spent several years in the north Houston area. Nick received his Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist designation in 2010. He is a native of Calvert/Robertson County Texas and resides in Bryan-College Station with his with Gretchen and their two children.

Ryan Carr, Producer, Sam Houston State class of ’04, came to SIG in 2011 following previous experience with a captive insurance agency and in education. As a producer, Ryan’s extensive background in the Farm and Ranch industry has allowed him to specialize in insuring those types of risks and others since 2009. Additionally, Ryan sells personal and commercial insurance products. He is a native of the Bedias/Grimes County Texas area and resides in Bryan-College Station with his wife Reanna and their two children.

Donna Beeler, CIC, Account Executive, has over 25 years experience in the commercial insurance industry. She obtained her Certified Insurance Counselor designation in 1996 and joined SIG in 2012 following positions with other local agencies. Donna works with Bryan-based agents as an Account Executive to maintain existing relationships while marketing new and renewal commercial business. Her years of experience combined with being a native and lifelong resident of Bryan greatly aids in her ability to assist customers in the Brazos Valley with their insurance needs. Donna and her husband Scott have two adult children and one grandchild.

John Marmor, CSR, attended Texas A&M University and then spent over eight years in the IT/Customer Support division of a large provider of management software to the automotive sales industry. There he reached the level of trainer and supervisor just before leaving to obtain his P&C license and join SIG in the winter of 2014. John is a customer service representative on the Hurt team and works with Jody and Monica daily to be sure existing customer needs are being met. He is a native of Houston but grew up in the Deanville/Dimebox/Lee County Texas area and currently resides in Bryan-College Station.

Outside Sales Offices

Chico/Wise County : Kelly Laney has an office in Chico and specializes in commercial insurance in the Wise County area. After spending her high school and college years working for a health insurance affiliate, Kelly began her career as a licensed service representative in personal lines in 1997. In 2001, she moved her focus to commercial products and in 2004, obtained her license as a General Lines P&C Agent and began producing commercial volume. Wake Village/Texarkana : Terry Fischer and staff have an office in Wake Village and provide commercial and personal insurance products to northeast Texas and Arkansas businesses and families. Terry has been active in insurance since 1988, holding both sales and management positions. In 2001, he left the captive agent side of the business and transitioned to the independent agent system. His agency, Fischer Insurance, was acquired by Service Insurance Group, Inc. in 2012; Terry remains as part owner of his book of business and office manager.
