Agency Principal

Rodney Hurt, AAI began his career in insurance not long after graduating from Texas A&M University in 1977. He has over 30 years experience in the industry receiving his Accredited Adviser in Insurance designation in 1985 and forming Service Insurance Group in 1987. His experience includes sales, management, agency ownership and development of outside sales locations. Additionally, he was co-founder of a group of agencies that at one point reached 41 Texas locations and from 2000 to 2011 served as Executive Vice President, providing marketing and coverage advise to many of the agents in the group. Currently, Rodney handles the day to day management needs of his agency and other insurance enterprises while continuing to produce both commercial and personal insurance volume.

Agency Sales & Service Personnel

Bradley Hurt, Texas A&M class of 2000, is both a third generation Aggie & insurance agent and began working at SIG in 2002 following accounting positions with a national re-insurer and a multi-national corporation. Bradley produces commercial & personal volume while handling some of the day to day needs of existing clients, was appointed agency Vice President in late 2006 and holds licenses in both General & Surplus P&C Lines.

Gary Griffin, CIC is a producer specializing in personal insurance and began his career in insurance as a claims adjuster with Travelers Insurance Company. He has since accumulated over 40 years of experience as a general lines agent becoming a Certified Insurance Counselor in Personal Lines in 1989.

Monica Hughes joined SIG in 2002 and handles the various needs of existing personal lines customers while marketing new and renewal business. Monica previously held positions with banking institutions in nearby Brazos Valley communities.

Debbie Banister, ACSR joined SIG in 2007 following multiple years with a large, regional insurance agency. Debbie brings a great deal of experience in addition to her ACSR accreditations in both Personal & Commercial Lines. She provides customer service to existing commercial lines customers.

Jody Hatla joined SIG in 2009 following numerous customer service positions in the banking industry and other business. She assisted in agency administration before transitioning to a commercial customer service position in 2012.

Nick Lutz III, CRIS joined SIG in 2009 as a producer specializing in commercial insurance. He brings a great deal of sales experience in construction, real estate and other related fields to this position and, prior to relocating to B/CS, spent several years in the North Houston area. Nick received his Construction Risk & Insurance Specialist designation in 2010.

Ryan Carr, Sam Houston State class of 2004, came to SIG in early 2011 following previous experience with a captive insurance agency and in education. As a producer, Ryan's extensive background in the Farm & Ranch industry has allowed him to specialize in insuring those types of risks since 2009. Additionally, Ryan sells personal & commercial insurance products.

Outside Sales

Kelly Laney offices in Wise County and specializes in commercial insurance. After spending her high school and college years working for a health insurance affiliate Kelly began her career as a licensed service representative in personal lines in 1997. In 2001 she moved her focus to commercial products then, in 2004, obtained her license as a General Lines P&C Agent and began producing commercial volume. Kelly joined SIG B/CS in 2009.
